Singer, drummer, and boxer Otakar Petřina, also known as Marpo, launched a new solo project in 2025, bringing a fresh take on modern Southern country music to the Czech Republic. Conceptually, this continues the direction he began exploring in earlier years, when country elements started appearing in his songs. However, he fully shifted from rap to singing and country only after the TroubleGang project ended.

The peak of the singer’s transformation so far is his tenth studio album, Making Country Music Cool Again, regarded as Marpo’s most mature work both musically and lyrically. The fact that the new Marpo has become widely popular and that his music resonates with audiences is shown by the excellent reviews of his live performances in the summer of 2025, rapidly growing streaming numbers across all platforms, and the inclusion of his songs in mainstream radio rotations—something that was previously unimaginable.
